Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk was named Time magazine’s Person of the Year for 2021, a year that saw his electric car company become the most valuable carmaker in the world and his rocket company soar to the edge of space with an all-civilian crew.
“For creating solutions to an existential crisis, for embodying the possibilities and the perils of the age of tech titans, for driving society’s most daring and disruptive transformations, Elon Musk is TIME’s 2021 Person of the Year,” the magazine’s editor-in-chief, Edward Felsenthal, said.
“Even Elon Musk’s spacefaring adventures are a direct line from the very first Person of the Year, Charles Lindbergh, whom the editors selected in 1927 to commemorate his historic first solo transatlantic airplane flight over the Atlantic.”
From hosting Saturday Night Live to dropping tweets on cryptocurrencies and meme stocks that have triggered massive movements in their value, Musk has dominated the headlines and amassed more than 66 million followers on Twitter.
Yeah and he managed to not even have a hundred million dollar rocket explode this year. What a hero.
Oh okay, maybe not. But at least it was only one rocket this-
I’m not sure that I even disagree with Musk being named “Person of the Year,” because all you have to do is finish ahead of your competitors. It’s hard for me to even suggest a replacement, so fine.
Time magazine named the teenage pop singer Olivia Rodrigo as its Entertainer of the Year, American gymnast Simone Biles Athlete of the Year and vaccine scientists were named Heroes of the Year.
I get that earlier in the article they point out that generating headlines is a major consideration for Person of the Year, but Simone Biles? She made headlines because she is a headcase who threw her teammates under the bus, and refused to compete in a team event, not an individual event, a team event that cost three other girls their best shot at a medal.

Her withdrawing from the competition directly resulted in the American Team losing an event they had won gold at for the past 3 olympics. Instead the other girls didn’t even get to win a medal.

In the biggest upset for the United States at the Tokyo Games, Simone Biles withdrew from the gymnastics team competition after it had started on Tuesday, handing Russia’s squad a path to the gold medal and ending American domination of the event for more than a decade. Biles, Team U.S.A.’s star, said she pulled out of the event because she wasn’t in the right place mentally to perform the difficult and often dangerous skills she is known for, after feeling so much pressure to be successful. She had been struggling with the stress of being the greatest gymnast in history, she said, and outside expectations were just too hard to combat. It is not clear whether she will compete in her individual events.
Yeah, she wasn’t injured, she just wasn’t feeling it. Truly this is a hero for children to look up to. A woman who became famous for choking so bad she didn’t even try even though she was already in the olympics.
As for the next winner, Olivia Rodrigo is someone I’ve never heard of. Apparently she’s some singer with Disney.
My goodness. Well she certainly is cute, and yes, she is 18 for anyone wondering. It feels a little weird for someone I’ve never heard of to win entertainer of the year, but once again I’m not sure who I’d even nominate instead. That’s one of the byproducts of all the music and films and everything sucking.
Here’s a concert she performs. The video has about 2 million views, which isn’t that much compared to the multiple billions other videos get. Even still, she apparently writes her own music, so I suppose I’m fine with this, even if the music is very much not for me.
Thank god for black science ladies, who have murdered Covid-19 and also put billions in the pockets of multinational pharmaceutical corporations.
Elon Musk is an immoral con-artist piece of shit. He’s subsidized with hundreds of millions of dollars, and complains of welfare recipients. Only a system as corrupt and filthy as this would elevate someone like him to his current status. And I don’t even want to think about what horrific debauchery Olivia Rodrigo was forced to do to recieve her ascendency to musical fame. It certainly wasn’t her music.
