Express:

The Sleipner field, a North Sea hub for British fossil fuel, was on the verge of being shut down at the weekend owing to a dispute over pay. Norwegian oil and gas workers had already closed three fields by Monday with three more expected to have followed on Tuesday before the government intervened.

Had the striking workers managed to shut down the three additional fields it would have affected around 13 percent of Norway’s total gas exports.

An additional three fields including Sleipner were due to be shut down on Saturday.

Labour Minister Marte Mjoes Persen told Reuters that Oslo had used its powers to intervene and the strike would have had “serious consequences”.

It’s funny, because I thought workers having the right to strike was fundamental to Fake Democracy and the Rules Based International Order. And yet, when oil and natural gas workers threaten to strike for better labour conditions, suddenly the government steps in just like the old communists of yore and order the peasants to get back to their positions. Remember, you have plenty of freedom in neo-Bolshevikism, as long as you’re protesting for the right to get pedophiles unsupervised access to small boys.

Labour Minister Marte Mjoes Persen told Reuters that Oslo had used its powers to intervene and the strike would have had “serious consequences”.

“When the conflict can have such great social consequences for the whole of Europe, I have no choice but to intervene in the conflict.

It is unjustifiable to let gas production stop to such an extent.”

Lederne union leader Audun Ingvartsen told Reuters that the strike was over.

He said: “Workers are going back to work as soon as possible.

“We are cancelling the planned escalation.”

The dispute will now move to what the Norwegian government has labelled a “compulsory wage board”.

A nice meme, but in reality it’s just as true for Capitalism. Nobody who actually has power gives a shit about economic ideologies. Those exist for the stupid and naive peasants to get tripped up over, so they feel the need to argue against, say, trillion dollar multinationals engaging in mass censorship. When something serious like a war is going on, they’re not going to be letting these little peasants insolently demand appropriate wages.

  1. Somehow when jews are on the side of crippling your society then strikes during a time of war can be allowed (like general strikes in Germany during the First World War) but when strikes might be bad for their position they cannot be allowed.

  2. sure you’ve got rights : the right to do exactly what you are told at all times

  3. There’s a growing movement for better wages, which is only barely kept in check with the fake reactionary populism. Strikes are already becoming more common, with the system attempting to demoralize strikers by accusing them of being ‘Marxists’ or claiming their strikes will end up killing people or making peoples lives harder during the economic downturn. Really nasty narrative tactics. There are some excellent recent videos of trade unionist Mick Lynch going toe-to-toe with media during his Unions pressure for better wages and maintaining protections for UK rail workers.
